"Joggle tool + tilting tool" equipment

Project: To design the « JOGGLE TOOL + TILTING TOOL » system to form conductors for the ends of the ITER poloidal-field coils (PF)

Aims and characteristics:

  • To produce the « JOGGLE TOOL » and « TILTING TOOL » tool support – mechanically welded structures designed to accommodate the « JOGGLE TOOL » (4.5 t) in two positions: S1 (« normal » tool) and S2 (« turned » tool) via retrofitting
  • To consider that in each position, the « JOGGLE TOOL » tool should be able to fold the conductor and disengage itself, allowing for transfers to be made along X and Y axes, and a rotation around Z (upwards along the vertical axis)
  • To provide for the handling of 4.5 tonnes of equipment in rotation, with an angle of +/- 0.015° and in independent longitudinal and lateral transfers in steps of +/- 0.5 mm, with a stroke of 100 mm
  • To assign a project engineer to ensure monitoring and documentation; a research manager; a technical manager; two qualified sheet metal workers; two qualified welders; a workshop manager; two qualified fitters; and a site team
