Alpha-emitting waste conditioning unit
Project: To repackage drums of radioactive waste from IECDA and UP1 installations into 870 L packages
Aims and characteristics:
- Creation of the AWCU (Alpha-emitting Waste Conditioning Unit) on the CEA MARCOULE site
- To respect of the project’s specific requirements (20-tonne mechanical press; ergonomics and earthquake resistance; radiological protection; specific handling equipment with spreader beam, crane, conveyor system, etc.; drum turner; drum opening system with control knot; and watertight class-2 guillotine door
